The SIRIUS LRS combines the characteristics of the SIRIUS strobe with the long-range signalling power of a focused-beam strobe, allowing users to aim a strobe beam at searching aircraft and surface vessels far out on the horizon and increase the probability of detection over greater distances than a standard strobe light. It is an approved strobe light for boat crew and scheduled mission personnel listed on maintenance procedure card KB0107.0, and carries US Coast Guard approval 161.112/109/0.
